Gen and Spencer: Engagements I Salt Lake City Wedding Photographer
[intro]How did you guys meet?
We met at Red Robin. A mutual friend of ours had her birthday dinner there. I was invited because she and I had been friends for a while-she used to be in my ward. Spencer was invited because he was one of the cute guys in her new ward. When I got to the restaurant,[/intro]everyone in the group was waiting for the tables to be set up for our large party. I noticed Spencer immediately. He was wearing a black polo, light jeans, and was standing with his hands in his pockets. I thought, “OK, there are some pretty girls here that he could pay attention to. But I’m going to make sure I sit next to that guy.” When it came time to be seated at our long table, I nonchalantly sat next to Spencer and proceeded to very casually, but obviously, flirt with him.
First thoughts about one another after you met?
Gen: I was attracted to Spencer’s confidence. Not only in the way he carried himself, but in his ability to hold a conversation and express himself. He seemed to have everything going for him.
Spencer: When I first met Gen, I thought she was hot. I was also impressed with how cool and confident she was.
How did he propose?
It was the best. Spencer contacted my school and arranged to come in during the school day. He asked the school administration to film it, but I was led to believe that I was being filmed for a teacher training video. So Spencer came in during the middle of my lesson, and I had no idea why he was there so I just kept teaching. Finally he interrupted and told the class that he had a very important question to ask me. He had brought in a cake that said “Marry me!” I opened the cake and then he knelt down and asked me. I turned to my class and said, “What do you think I should say?” and they all shouted “YES!” Then I got the rest of the day off! It was perfect.
