What is the starting price of your services?
All of my packages are 100% customizable so no pricing is the same. This is because everything is tailored to exactly what the bride wants and needs. Also, we do just the set-up, styling and takedown which is less expensive than hiring us for full planning and styling. It really just depends on each couple. We offer completely free consultations so we can great a customized proposal first.
What’s the most important thing to remember when selecting an event planner?
I really think that there are several factors to consider when you choose your wedding planner. Always trust your gut. If you meet with someone and you don’t feel like you are on the same page, you probably aren’t. Find someone that not only knows what they are doing but that you can also communicate with easily and genuinely have a good feeling about. After all you will be spending a lot of time with this individual. Make sure that after your first meeting with them that you feel like they were listening to you and your fiancé/family/MOH. Did the planner understand your vision? Are they able to work with the budget you have? Keep in mind that not everyone will mesh and fit together. Find a professional that is compatible with you and your fiancé.
What are the latest trends you’ve seen for weddings?
Pinterest is hot right now. I have a lot of brides doing rustic, vintage, shabby-chic or a combination of those. Unique touches like popcorn bars, candy bars, mismatched bridesmaid dresses, etc. are all very fun trends that are still going strong. My favorite trend is personalizing your wedding. Brides use hobbies as inspirations for décor, favors and engagement pictures.
What are the benefits of hiring someone to help plan?
You do not realize just how difficult and time consuming a wedding can be until you start! You have to be VERY detail oriented and organized. It is extremely easy to forget one little detail. A professional is able to not only help you stay organized and on track so that everything is perfectly lined out, but they also have built relationships with many vendors. These relationships can save you time and most importantly money. They are also wonderful for their opinions. Throughout the planning process you will want someone that shares your vision to offer a frank and honest opinion on everything from attire to flowers to food. My brides will call me at 10:00 p.m. asking what I think about the color of dahlias they like. This will excite very few people, I LOVE it!
What’s the biggest thing brides usually forget for the wedding?
Oh man, this one is hard. It really depends on the bride. A lot of brides forget about transportation for herself, the groom and/or bridal party. Other brides forget about taking care of themselves by packing a “bridal emergency kit”. Things like creating an itinerary for the wedding party and family and making sure that there is food and beverages during the day before the wedding starts are easily forgotten as well. The biggest thing that brides forget though is to relax and enjoy the day. Unexpected snags will happen but that’s what a professional is there for. This is their special day, soak every beautiful moment in!
What’s your favorite part of planning a wedding lately and why?
I love my brides, sincerely. I deeply care about them and what will make them happy. My favorite part is simple, interacting with my brides and seeing their special day far exceed their expectations is by far the best part about my job.
