It was so fun and we are excited for this new chapter in their lives. They told us their beautiful love story and now we are telling you![/intro]
How did you guys meet?
We both moved to California for work and met at church.
First thoughts about one another after you met?
Eli: This girl is way to pretty and amazing to ever be interested in me.
Rachel: He seems like a really cool guy that would be a lot of fun to spend time with.
Tell us about your first date:
We went on a beautiful hike to a waterfall. Along the hike we decided to blaze our own trail which added to the adventure and beauty of the hike. We then were feeling adventurous and decided to try something new for both of us and so we went to dinner at a Nigerian restaurant. When we got there the door was locked and we thought they were closed but the owner opened the door and said she just liked to keep it locked when no customers were inside. We enjoyed our meal and the owner gave us Palm Wine (juice) to drink assuring us there was no alcohol in it.( Neither one of us drink due to religious beliefs) Then two Nigerian gentlemen asked us what we thought of their wine and we found out this was an alcoholic drink. When we finished our meal Eli went to pay with his card but their card reader was down so he had to run two blocks to pull cash out of an ATM while leaving me in the restaurant with the owner. She locked the door behind him to keep us safe. He came back and paid. At this point in the evening neither of us were ready for the date to end so we decided to go to the beach. It was chilly and I hadn’t brought a jacket so Eli offered to buy one from the Big Lots next door. As we approached the store a man came swiftly walking out with security running behind him yelling “Sir stop! You didn’t pay for those!” we gave each other concerned looks but went in any ways. Eli bought me a nice fleece jacket and we went to the beach. We danced in the moonlight and talked for a while.
How did you know he/she was the one?
Rachel: He easily became my best friend and I never got tired of spending time with him.
Eli: She not only puts up with my humor but also joins in with me. I always look forward to seeing her even to this day.
How did he propose?
He surprised me with a private flight to Santa Barbara, California. We had lunch on the beach and afterwards we walked along the shore and proposed to me on some rocks by a cove.
