Meghan & Cliff Wedding
[intro]Congrats to Meghan and Cliff on their 1 year anniversary! We love this couple so much! They were kind enough to share with us all about how they met and fell in love. I’m sure you’ll love how he proposed too:[/intro]
How did you guys meet?
Cliff and I actually met in college at the University of Arkansas. Cliff was a left handed pitcher and I was on the Pom squad. On your first year of pom you’re required to dance at all of the home baseball games on the dugouts so it’s really fun now because we have all of these pictures of me dancing and him pitching behind me! We never dated in college however. We were only acquaintances and both in different relationships with the same group of friends. It wasn’t until a year out of college when we both accidentally met up in Dallas that our love story began.
First thoughts about one another after you met?
M-We refer to it as when we “re-met”. But I remember thinking “Wow! is this the same guy?” and specifically not being able to look away from his beautiful blue eyes.
C-Meg and I first met in Dallas at her apartment with friends. We were invited to come over and watch a razorback football game. When she opened the door. She was absolutely stunning as I knew her to already be. She was wearing a red sweater that fell off her shoulder. Being together for the first time we we clicked extremely well. I cant remember a thing said but I knew I didn’t ever want to leave her side.
Who said “I love you” first?
He did! I had no idea it was coming, but he specifically said “I love you to death” and I’ll never forget those words.

Tell us about your first date:
Our first real date was at Del Frisco’s grill which is in Uptown Dallas. I was SO nervous at first but the conversation flowed naturally and everything was easy and fun, the way it should be! He was all dressed up and ordered our appetizer for us (ahi tuna tacos…DELIC!) Afterwards, we met up with some friends at a bar nearby and had such a fun night together!
Tell us about your first kiss:
M-Our first kiss was amazing and came as a big surprise to me. He kissed me at his apartment after a night on the town with friends. I didn’t see it coming and didn’t even know he was interested in me in that way and then BAM! That kiss felt like a whole new experience to me. 🙂 I sound so cliche! haha!
C-Our first kiss was perfect. We had been hanging out all day and night and to my surprise, I was feeling that Meg might be interested in me. We were having a great time with friends but I found myself staying by her side all day. At the end of the day Meg and I ended up at my apartment talking for hours. I think neither of us wanted the night to end (At least I didn’t!). It was getting extremely late and I was beginning to think I was going to chicken out. Instead, I went all in! I snuck in a quick kiss then quickly picked her up in my arms and kissed her again. I think it worked…
How did you know he/she was the one?
M- I think I knew right away that he was the one. Our relationship was unlike anything I’ve ever had. Cliff is the most caring, polite, loving man i’ve ever met and he’s everything i’ve ever wanted and more. Since the first day I (re) met him, he has surprised me every day since. His ambition, and the way he takes care of me and others is something that was apparent to me since day one and something I will never take for granted.
C-I think from the first night we hung out together we both knew. It took some work to get her to let her guard down but she was always very sweet. If you know meg, you know it can be tough to get through that guard! We have been inseparable ever since. To this day I still don’t want to do a thing without her. She is the coolest person I know.
How did he propose?
-His proposal was absolutely perfect. It started at brunch with just him, my best friend Liana, and I. It was the Saturday before St. Patty’s day which in Dallas means that everyone goes to the parade and hangs out on Greeneville Ave. As far as I knew, our plan was to have brunch and head over with friends to start the festivities. Needless to say, none of that happened. Cliff got up to “go to the bathroom” towards the end of the meal and kissed me and rubbed my back extra sweetly before leaving (which I later noted). Once he was gone, Liana grabbed my phone, put it in her purse and handed me a letter. I was completely and utterly confused…”what the heck is this? And why do you have my phone?” She insisted I just read it and stop asking so many questions. As soon as I opened it, of course, I knew what was going on. The first line stated “You know I couldn’t just do this any old way…” My instructions were specific: I was not to have my phone all day, I had to follow the clues to a T, and I had to read each clue on video. By this time I was already bawling my eyes out (I am emotional I admit, especially when it comes to Cliff). The first clue had an address on it…we walked outside and there was already an Uber waiting…we pulled up to the nail salon which is hilarious because I was always really nervous he was going to propose and I was going to have terrible half scraped off nail polish because, well, that’s how my nails look 90% of the time. When I stepped inside, my dearest friend Molly was inside waiting with arms open! We all three got our nails done and afterwards Molly handed me a letter from her and a clue! Of course, i’m bawling still wondering how i’m going to make it through this day without being a total mess. The next clue said to go where our first date was (Del Friscos) and it happened to be across the street. We walked over to find two of my closest friends from the team (Dallas Mavericks Dancers). We all had a drink and it was off to the next destination. Basically the whole day revolved around him getting me ready for the big question to be popped that evening. The clues took me to dry bar where I got my hair did and one of my closest girlfriends from out of town surprised me, next was urban outfitters and dillards to find the proper attire where my best guy friend was hiding! And last, a limo picked us all up and took us to my parents house where the whole home was decorated in pictures of us and engagement memorabilia everywhere! 2 of my 3 brothers were hiding in my parents room and surprised me 🙂 After getting ready there and enjoying appetizers and the company of my family and closest friends we headed back in the limo where, this time, I was blindfolded. It started completely POURING rain which is very odd for Dallas but rain is my favorite. When we pulled up to some unknown location I heard the door open and a sweet voice say “hello sweetheart.” My heart melted and I held back tears for fear of smearing my mascara and losing a fake eyelash. he held out his hand and guided me out of the limo into a dry spot under an umbrella. Still blindfolded, he carefully guided me from concrete to grass telling me to duck when necessary and finally we stopped and I realized we were under something covered. The rain was so loud hitting against what sounded like canvas material. He took my blindfold off and I through my arms around him. I then had a chance to look around. We were on a grassy hill overlooking white rock lake under a little tent outlined with the cutest lights. It was spectacular. I’m serious people, it was straight out of a movie. I can honestly say that I have no idea what he said, I think I blacked out from excitement. I do remember him kneeling and looking up at me asking me to marry him with the most beautiful ring that I still look at a hundred times a day. His side of the story is that I grabbed the ring and put it on my own finger (embarrassed face) but myyyy side of the story is that he forgot to put it on my finger so I did it myself. There may or may not be video footage proving my guilt in the matter but it was just so beautiful! And like I said I blacked out. After a moment to ourselves we returned to the limo where our friends all clapped and screamed! The limo took us to a cute restaurant called “The Lot” where all of our close friends and family met us to celebrate! It was the second best day of my existence (the first being our wedding day). See what I mean? He’s full of surprises.
What are the top 5 things you love about each other?
Meghan: How he treats and cares for his family, his ambition, his levelheadedness, his love for the outdoors and adventure, his eyes, how he always tries to do the right thing. (ok, there were a few extras but that’s a near impossible question! There is so much I love about him).
Cliff: 1) Her passion for life. Meg has a passion for living in the moment more that I have ever seen. I love to watch her get lost in a scenery, or a movie, or just a great time. It’s the most beautiful thing in the world.
2) Her honesty. Meg will always tell me and others the truth. It’s amazing how transparent she can be. She keeps me on my toes and always keeps me accountable.
3) Her stunning looks! This one might sound shallow but my wife is absolutely drop dead gorgeous and it NEVER gets old.
4) Her wacky weirdness. Meg loves to have a great time and be weird. She loves Harry Potter, and Lord of the Rings. She somehow thinks I’m the “weird one”, which is cool too because I can always make her laugh.
5) I love her family and the way she loves her family. I think it is a rare thing to have two sides of the family that are absolutely wonderful. Meg and I both have very strong family’s that stick together and love one another. I think this only makes Meg and I stronger as a couple and sets us up for success when it is time to start our own family.
