Alexa & Mike: Engaged
[intro]We just absolutely LOVE Alexa and Mike! We’re so excited for their Guardsman Pass wedding. They shared their own love story with us. Read about how they met and be prepared to fall in love with this couple: [/intro]
How did you guys meet?
Initially at a New Years Eve martial arts class, Dec 2006. I came from another martial arts school and happened to be in Mike’s class, our teacher introduced us after a school wide class and suggested Mike help me learn some of the new moves that I’d missed.
First thoughts about one another after you met?
Mike: “Ooo I like her.”
Alexa: We shook hands and he winked at me. I wasn’t sure if winking was just his thing or if he was being flirty.

Who said “I love you” first?
It’s been 8 years, neither of us can remember.
Tell us about your first date:
Dinner and a movie: We saw Once at the Broadway Theater and went to dinner at Stoneground.
Tell us about your first kiss:
Awkward. We were 19, watching a movie on the sofa and worried my mom would walk in.
How did you know he/she was the one?
Alexa: When he told me (excitedly) that his grandmother threw her panties onstage to Tom Jones back in the 60’s. I have a strange and deep love of Tom Jones’ music. It was shocking to have the thought “this is the guy for me” actually, consciously hit me.
Mike: I knew she was the one when I could not stop thinking about her when we had our break up years ago. Things always felt natural from day one though, so it was no surprise.
How did he propose?
For our anniversary this last winter, Mike surprised me with concert tickets to see Jason Mraz at Abravanel Hall (Jason Mraz has been my favorite for probably 10 years). I suspected he might ask me that night but he didn’t seem nervous all evening so I convinced myself that it wouldn’t happen then. Much to my surprise, while they sang “Quiet”, Mike leaned over in our seats with the ring in hand asked if I would marry him. Naturally, I said “yes.”
