Anna & Patrick
[intro]We just adore Anna and Patrick! You’re going to as well, just read about how they met and be prepared to fall in love with this couple:[/intro]
How did you guys meet?
We met in college at BYU. I had despaired of ever meeting somebody in college, and then Patrick was in all but one of my classes my last semester. Obviously it was meant to be.
First thoughts about one another after you met?
We had both just come out of really weird relationships with other people, so we were just friends at first. I thought he was hilarious, and I guess he liked that I thought he was hilarious.
Who said “I love you” first?
Patrick said “I love you” first. My car broke down in Tooele when I was on my way home to Reno, and I was on the phone with just about everyone I knew trying to figure out a way to get home. Patrick said it right as I was about to hang up and all I could say was “Ok, thanks, bye!” He later denied saying it, and it was another month before we said it for real.
Tell us about your first date:
On our first date, Patrick made me lasagna. Unfortunately he forgot to defrost the lasagna, so he took me to meet his grandparents while it was thawing. It was awkward, but endearing.
Tell us about your first kiss:
We first kissed on Patrick’s couch after watching a movie. He later confessed that he’d thought me too aggressive, and I confessed that I thought he’d never kissed anyone before! Needless to say we worked it out.
How did you know he/she was the one?
Patrick went on a study abroad to London when we’d been dating for about six months. We decided to take a break while he was gone, but then ended up talking on Skype every day anyway. We both realized that we loved each other at this point, but it was another several months before we told each other.
How did he propose?
Patrick had always made the joke that he wanted to get his wife a secret decoder ring rather than a diamond so that he could pass notes in church. So when he proposed to me on the beach at Lake Tahoe, he started by giving me random strips of paper with gibberish written on them. Finally, when I had gathered them all, he produced a decoder ring and I was able to decode the love letter. Then he asked me to be his wife. The decoder ring was my engagement ring until we picked out a different one, but I still wear it quite a lot.
