Lysje & Chandler: Engaged
[intro]Look who got engaged! Aren’t they so cute? We hope you love reading about their love story as much as we did![/intro]
How did you guys meet?
We met each other at a mutual friend’s movie night. Chandler had just quit his ridiculously time-consuming job and had never had time to attend. Lysje had gone to these things and thought it would be her last movie night with all her friends for a while. (The plan was to move up to Idaho for a bit.) But, as God would have it, we met, we flirted, and Lysje asked him on a group date for the next day. It’s good that he said “yes” because later that night, he asked me out, and that was that!
First thoughts about one another after you met?
When I (Lysje) first met him, I thought he was really forward, kind of a flirt, but I really liked him. I thought he was super kind and very much a gentleman (he still opens my door!). His thoughts were, “She’s cute, but I don’t necessarily plan on dating her”. He was kind of bitter against girls and the world at the time. I understood, I felt the same way!
Who said “I love you” first?
HE DID! It sort of freaked me (Lysje) out! We were Skyping over Christmas break, about a two weeks after we met, and he threw it out there. I was a little shocked, and he tried covering it up by saying it wasn’t so serious. I said I needed a little more time before I said it back. I said it the next night….

Tell us about your first date:
Our first date was the day after we met! We walked up to BYU’s Country Swing Dance club and danced our hearts out! Then we went to a friend’s house and watched a movie with all of the others on the double date (about 4 other couples). Suddenly, everyone started to play thumb wars. We thought, “Hey, we can’t be left out!”, and we proceeded to play the game. At the end, I don’t know what got into me, but as he started to pull away, I held on. He already had his arm around me, so there we were, hands locked and snuggling. He then looked at me, and sort of out of nowhere to both of us he asked, “Wanna go out?” and shocked I replied, “Sure”. And later, he walked me to the door, we hugged, and that was the date!
Tell us about your first kiss:
Oh boy. Our first kiss. Well, about a week and a half into our relationship, he was walking me home on 940 N. University Avenue. About half way there, he stopped and we hugged and talked. I looked up at him, willing him to just make the move. He had never kissed a girl. He was saving it for his future wife, come to find out. But it was going so well, that he went for it and gave me the sweetest kiss. He was a natural. 😉
How did you know he/she was the one?
Chandler knew by the first kiss. He just “felt it”. He liked me enough, so he decided to give it a shot. It took me a little bit longer. After Christmas, so about 3 weeks into the relationship, after a lot of thinking and praying, I finally made the choice to marry him, and right after I made that choice, I had a wonderful confirmation of comfort, and I knew he was the one.
